Reasons of Continental Drift ( Theory of Continental Drift )
Why continental drift occurred ?
In the last post I explained what's the theory of continental drift. However what was the explanation of continental drift ? Why did continental drift occurred ? Today i'll tell the real reason behind the theory of continental drift.
Reasons
Plate Tectonics
According to this theory , it's assumed that the super continent Pangaea was a continental plate that already had many internal cracks. And with time those cracks widened up. Then the plate bust up and its pieces formed different continents.
Those continents moved in numerous directions and therefore the present world map was achieved.
Convection Currents
As we all know that the earth was a fireball. It started cooling down slowly. Foremost its outer layer cooled down. This outer layer that cooled down foremostly is known as crust. However the interior part of earth was still a hot liquid. Because of this intense heat the convection currents started rising slowly to the surface of the earth.
We additionally know that the surface of earth includes of many totally different rock structures. therefore the part of earth wherever the lightest rocks were present received the maximum impact of convection current. The intense pressure of convection current developed crack on the surface of earth. And with time this crack widened up and formed different continents.
Conclusion
So this was the real reason behind the formation of continents. within the next post i'll tell you the proofs that told us that the theory of continental drift explained by Alfred Wegener was completely correct..
