Reason for the present state of the continents ( Theory of Continental Drift )

Have you ever questioned why we've continents in such an uneven form ? Why they're not regular in form and have a irregular outline ? so today i'll tell you the explanation behind this condition of the continents.

Theory of Continental Drift

The reason for this phenomena is explained by the theory of continental drift given by Alfred Wegener. the theory of continental drift given by Alfred Wegener wasn't accepted within the starting because the phenomena wasn't tested and Alfred Wegener  wasn't ready to justify the explanations for it. however as soon as scientists from totally different parts of the globe started gathering some proves for this state of the continents they came to understand that theory of continental drift proposed by Alfred Wegener was true. the explanations given by Alfred Wegener weren't correct however the idea proposed was fully correct.

According to him all the continents were one piece of land within the starting. The one piece of land was called super continent Pangaea and it absolutely was encircled by a super ocean named as Panthalsa. This theory of continental drift may be explained in a few stages.

Stages of Theory of Continental Drift

=> There was a crack within the middle of Pangaea. This crack came to be called Tethys sea. The upper half was named Angara Land or Laurasia and the lower half was called Gondwana Land.

=> A vertical crack developed once more that came to be called Pan american Geosyncline. This crack seperated North America and South America from the Pangaea. Then North America and South America drifted westward and reached their present state.

=> African geosyncline seperated Africa from Pangea.

=> India , Australia and Antarctica started moving southwards. All three were part of Gondwana Land.

=> Europe and Asia, together known as Eurasia were static at their place and movement of these continents did not took place.

=> Antarctica and Australia stopped at their present position and India started moving northwards.

=> India collided with Eurasia. This stage was known as the great collision.

=> After this, the present world map was achieved,

Reasons given by Alfred Wegener for the proof of Theory of Continental Drift

Reason 1 - Pole Flee Force

The reasons given by Alfred Wegener  to prove the theory of continental drift were not accepted.
The first reason he gave for this theory was the pole flee force. This reason was rejected because the pole flee force acts from poles towards the centre of the earth. But this phenomena was opposite to the pole flee force. As the continents moved outwards from the centre of the earth.

Reason 2 - Tidal Forces

The second reason he gave for the theory of continental drift was the tidal forces of sun and moon acting on the earth. This reason was also rejected because the formation of Earth took place 4.6 billion years ago and the theory of continental drift took place few million years ago. So it was asked by Alfred Wegener  that were the tidal forces absent for so many years and they acted after such a long time ? He was not able to explain this reason and thus this reason was rejected.

The reasons and the proofs which tell us that the theory of continental drift is true will be told in the next post till then goodbye.
